Frequently asked questions
I know starting therapy can bring up lots of questions — that’s completely normal. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions clients ask before starting. If you don’t see your question here, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Everything you say in session is confidential, with a few legal exceptions. These include: • If there is harm to yourself or others • If there is reasonable cause to suspect neglect or abuse towards a vulnerable population, such as children, the elderly, or the disabled • If I'm subpoenaed to court and/or have to facilitate an investigation or inspection authorized by warrant or by any provincial or federal law • If you, as the client, become physically or mentally unable to provide consent (e.g., unconscious, in medical crisis, or severely mentally impaired), I may need to contact a trusted person (like a family member, friend, or legal substitute decision-maker) • If the CRPO is investigating a registrant (like me, the therapist) - due to a complaint, concern, or as part of their regular Quality Assurance assessments, I may be required to share client records or other information with the College

One gentle step is all it takes to start.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Most clients start with weekly or biweekly appointments. Over time, frequency can shift depending on your needs and goals. Consistency helps build trust and momentum, but we’ll always move at a pace that works for you.
Our first session focuses on getting to know you — your story, your goals, and what matters most. We’ll talk through confidentiality, boundaries, and what therapy can look like for you. It’s also a chance to make sure you feel comfortable with me as your therapist.
That’s okay — most of my clients are new to therapy when they start. My goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You don’t need to have the “right words” — just showing up is enough.
That’s actually a sign the work is meaningful. Feeling emotional during or after sessions is normal, and we’ll always build in grounding strategies to help you leave sessions feeling safe and supported. Growth can be tender — and that’s okay.

Many extended health insurance plans cover therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or RP (Qualifying). Please check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage details. You’ll receive a receipt after each session that you can submit directly to your provider as I currently do not direct bill.
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or missed appointments are subject to the full session fee. This policy allows me to offer that time to other clients waiting for care.
